Volunteering

There are many benefits to volunteering that include some of the following:

  • Supporting your community
  • Meeting other like minded community members
  • Getting to see behind the scenes
  • Learning new skills
  • Expanding your horizons
  • Sometimes even a free ticket
  • Usually a t-shirt as a sourvenier
  • Not just being a "passive observer"
  • Experiences to add to your resume
  • A good feeling from knowing you are doing your bit

A work exchange can also take place where workers are rewarded with entrance, food, or any related items, though these workers are not counted as staff persons.

Volunteering is more than just a work force - it can also be a great way to really get to know how an event works, finding out more about your own abilities and putting yourself into an unknown situation outside of your normal every day life.

"I love volunteering, I would almost say I am addicted to it. I feel useful and love to do my bit. I have made some great friends as well and meet many regulars at each event. It's like a reunion of likeminded mates everytime." Kelly (Ingham)
